      Estate shutters’ wide slats, usually three-and-a-half to four inches wide, set them apart from other types of shutters. Their larger louvers result in fewer slats per vertical foot, which means they can let in more light, and, if windows are open, more air. Air is good, because the cost (ours were $22 a square foot, including installation *cough*) can make you hyperventilate.
      “They used to be a lot more expensive,” said Nathan Swartz, who owns Shutter Professionals, in Orlando, and who’s worked in the business 22 years. “When the import market opened up 20 years ago, the cost dropped by almost half.”

      After a couple of estimates for Plantation shutters for our condo, we settled on Shutter Professionals. And Professional they are! I cannot begin to tell you how satisfied we are, especially the wife! She was ecstatic after the installation was completed. We had a remodel done on our master bedroom. Adding the Plantation Shutters gave the room a totally different look which is amazing! Shutter Professionals is a family owned business. Nathan (owner) and his son were courteous, efficient and just a great team. They showed up on schedule. We had 4 sets of Plantation Shutters installed that took about 1 1/2 hours. The shutter quality is top notch! And lest I forget, the price for the shutters and installation was, can I say incredible? Find out yourself and get an estimate from sales manager Dean Marshall. His presentation was exceptional and he answered every question we had. If I could post pictures, I would. And, if I could, I would give them a 10 star rating….trust me.
