Interior Shutters Temple Terrace

Interior Shutters Temple TerraceThere are many individuals who know what window shutters are, and some may have one or both kinds of window shutters for their home. Although there may not be much of a difference between their looks, there are big differences between the functionality of exterior and interior shutters. Temple Terrace residents might be under the impression that there was no difference between the two types of window shutters, but this is not true. Today, it is much more common and recommended that homeowners consider getting interior shutters for their home instead of exterior window shutters. This is because interior shutters have much more functionality when compared to their exterior counterparts.

The Importance of a Tilt Bar

One of the items that is on interior window shutters but not present on exterior window shutters is what is commonly called a tilt bar. This tilt bar provides the function of moving the louvers, or horizontal slats, of the interior shutters. Temple Terrace residents should know that this function is used to position the louvers in such a way to allow in more or less sunlight into the home. Not only is sunlight more prominent in the home, but the additional benefit of providing more privacy from outside observers looking into the home. This is something that is not a feature or function of exterior window shutters, as their louvers are stationary and can be put into specific positions.

Wrap Around Window Sills

Another feature that is present on indoor window shutters that is not present on exterior window shutters is the fact that they wrap around the window sill with interior shutters. Temple Terrace residents should know that exterior window shutters instead simply sit on top of the window. This is an important distinction that homeowners should be aware of. When the window shutters wrap around the window sill, it creates a tight seal, which is good at creating an extra layer of insulation between the home and window. This is most noticeable on extremely hot or cold days, as a home hvac system does not have to run as often to regulate the internal temperature of a home. This is not a function that is applicable to exterior window shutters.
