Many people would like to upgrade their blinds or their shades to shutters for many different reasons such as the fact the shutters can significantly help you save money each month on your energy bill. But when you are looking at window shutters such as interior shutters, Tampa residents will find out very quickly that there are many different types or configurations of window shutters. For example, many people out their interested in window shutters for their home do not even know the difference between interior shutters and exterior shutters. Is there even a difference between the two?
Interior Shutters
If you do not know the difference between exterior and interior shutters, Tampa residents should be aware that interior shutters are installed on the inside of the window as opposed to the outside of a home. While that is pretty self-explanatory, what you cannot infer from that is because interior shutters are not being exposed to elements, they are usually not made out of a special material or coated with anything so they are usually cheaper. Also, interior shutters are more inclined to made in the slatted or plantation style rather than classic two panel shutters that a lot of exterior shutters are made to look like.
Exterior Shutters
Unlike that of interior Shutters, Tampa residents who are purchasing exterior shutters have them attached to the outside of the window frame. This is not a general rule of thumb, but most exterior shutters are not made from plastic or faux wood, but rather they are made of real hardwood or aluminum. The reason for this is because these outside shutters need to stand up to hard weather conditions while also lasting a long time. You would not want to trust a plastic exterior shutter for strong tropical storm winds would you?
