When most people think of plantation shutters, they often think of the shutters that would go on the windows of a home. Although these are the most popular kind of window shutters available today, they are not the only type. Another type of shutter that people might be interested in would be shutters for sliding glass doors. Bi-Fold Shutter configurations

This is often the most popular design for interior plantation shutters of a home. This design consists of two panels and one fold in order to open and close the shutters on the window.
Tri-Fold Configurations
The first option that is almost exclusively unique of shutters for sliding glass doors is the tri-fold configuration or accordion style window shutters. Similar to the bi-fold design, tri-fold designs act as if two bi-fold window shutters were stuck together.
By-Pass Shutters

Unlike bi-fold or tri-fold configurations, by-pass shutters do not open up, but rather slide along the track of a sliding glass door. These types of shutters often have larger louvers on them to let in more sunlight when appropriate.
